This is Parnell’s secret Tapas (heaven) bar. The food is distinctly Spanish / European in style as is the quant little bar come restaurant. This has got to be the best kept secret in Parnell. Tucked away up a no exit road hidden amongst the trendy advertising agencies just off The Strand.
Probably the smallest and narrowest restaurant I’ve ever been to in NZ. Do not be fooled by this small space, this place packs a mighty big punch and punches well above its weight taking on much bigger and prestigious restaurants (foes) and decks them.
This has the feel of one of those European street restaurants run by the local family, it certainly felt like we were in a Spanish city for after work drinks and some tapas, it was very cool and swanky and we all dreamed just a little of being in another city in another part of the world.
The tapas menu which changes daily is inspiring, inspiring to the taste buds that is. A real flavour punch to the mouth. (sticking with the boxing theme here)
Dined here in late August just 3 months after opening day with my Dining Group https://www.meetup.com/foodsocialNZ/ Seated outside at the big brass table under the large awning, greeted by the friendly staff who were crowded into the smallest kitchen I’ve ever seen in a restaurant. Despite the compactness of the kitchen they delivered plate after plate of pretty and TASTY dishes. My favourite of the night has to be the Arancini balls with the smoked bbq sauce, the best smoked sauce I’ve ever gorged on, yes I gorged on it.
